One of the great features of the steam railway was the mixed goods train, where an
assortment of vans & wagons of all descriptions would be hauled from one station goods
yard to the next. Some would have belonged to the railway companies, but many would have
been the so-called 'private owner' wagons bearing the distinctive and often colourful
liveries of individual businesses. Most of these were coal wagons, bearing the names of
collieries and coal traders, but there were also covered wagons for lime and salt, along with
vans and tankers of all descriptions. Some would never venture very far from their owner's
mine or coalyard or factory, but others would range far & wide throughout the railway
network. John Delaney's lime wagons would have travelled a long way from their Northern
heartlands, and Thrutchley's coal trucks could have been seen pretty much anywhere.
Coupled up together they make a typical sight from the goods trains of the steam era.

Please note that these wagons are boxed individually.
